Have you ever noticed that major life changes are often accompanied by newfound boldness? I swear that I’m not making this phenomenon up! Something massive changes in your life and suddenly you are making decisions and taking bigger risks. I notice this the most with my maternity clients.
You would think that the changes in their bodies would make them more self-conscious, but something about massive life changes releases their inhibitions. I can’t tell you how many pregnant women have entered my studio and said, “It’s now or never - I want to have a fine art nude of this pregnancy!” or, “I always wanted to do a boudoir shoot, but I never got around to it … I would like to do this for myself before the baby arrives.”
Perhaps pregnancy highlights the fact that life is moving forward rapidly and you can’t sit around waiting for perfect timing. The best time to take action is now. I love it when women choose to be bold and I also love the fact that the boldest actions come from the most vulnerable places.
Vulnerability is strength and as my favorite poet Robert Frost once said, “Freedom lies in being bold.”
